Overview:
The Administrator will lead Preschool through 12th grade according to the defined Mission Objectives. This position sets the tone of the school and actively works with teachers to develop and maintain high academic standards, while upholding God's truth. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.Description:
The Administrator works with the staff to direct, motivate, advise, coach, mentor, set performance goals and objectives, and provide direct feedback. The position manages staff requirements through hiring, evaluating, and working to improve the skills of teachers and other staff. The administrator is expected to visit classrooms, observe teaching methods, review instructional objectives, and examine learning materials. The administrator must use clear, objective guidelines for teacher appraisals. The administrator routinely interacts with students, parents, and representatives of community organizations.
The administrator prepares and manages budgets, oversees committee activities, and monitors the requisition and allocation of supplies. The administrator will be involved in public relations and fundraising to secure financial support from local businesses and the community. The administrator is responsible for ensuring that CCS meets stated goals of continual improvement in student performance and teacher qualifications.
Personal Qualifications:
To be successful, the applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to effectively interface with people. The administrator must have an ability to deal with conflict, adversarial and emotional situations with grace and tact, and also be effective in encouraging and inspiring the staff, students, and families. The administrator leads by example through their daily interactions inside the school and within the community. Planning and proactivity are required in addition to an ability to lead a team through complex issues. Recognizing that Calhoun Christian School is strongly committed to the Christian faith, we seek an administrator whose passion is uniting his/her faith with the academic leadership of the school.
Professional Qualifications:
Master’s degree in education administration or educational leadership is required. The candidate must be decisive, organized, able to effectively delegate, and a strong communicator both in written and oral communications. Knowledge of leadership principles and practices, gained through work experience and formal education, is important. A familiarity with computer technology is necessary to manage information and coordinate technical resources for students, teachers, and classrooms.

Secondary English Teacher (posted 7-6-2008)
Overview:
Calhoun Christian School is seeking a Secondary English and Language Arts teacher for 7th through 12th grade students. Duties include workshop attendance, conferences, meetings, and other scheduled activities.
Personal Qualifications:
We seek an individual who will relate well to young people and demonstrate a particular enthusiasm for working with teenagers. The candidate will be able to set appropriate classroom boundaries and expectations for each grade level and will utilize a variety of proven teaching methods to engage all students. The candidate is expected to uphold the school guidelines and model a respect for authority. The teacher we seek will value each student and family at Calhoun Christian School and will communicate regularly with all parties as needed. Recognizing that Calhoun Christian School is strongly committed to the Christian faith, we seek a teacher whose passion is to unite his/her Christian faith with English and Language Arts and to communicate that enthusiasm to the students.
Professional Qualifications:
An applicable degree in Secondary Education is required. Michigan certification in English or Language Arts at the secondary level is highly valued. Special consideration will be given to those candidates with teaching experience, who are continuing their education, and who are willing to seek the required ACSI certification.
